Storm Coordination Message #2 – Sunday Evening 3/2/14-Monday 3/3/14 Winter Storm Event
Hello to all..
..Storm System for tonight and Monday still expected to remain well south of the area and will result in minor impacts with advisory level snow for Cape Cod and the Islands and slightly less than advisory level amounts in South Coastal Massachusetts and Rhode Island..
..A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through Noon Monday for Cape Cod and the Islands for 2-4″ of snow with isolated higher amounts near the Cape Cod Canal and possibly Nantucket Island. Other parts of South Coastal Massachusetts and Rhode Island will receive 1-3″ of snow. A deviation of 20-40 miles in the heaviest snow bands could mean even less snow in South Coastal areas including Cape Cod and the Islands if the deviation is further south or slightly higher amounts if the deviation of the heaviest snow bands is further north into South Coastal areas..
..The rest of Southeast Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Northern Connecticut will receive a dusting-2″ of snow and areas north of this region will receive little to no snow accumulation..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor this storm tonight through Noon Monday. This will be the last coordination message for this storm system unless a significant upgrade to the situation occurs. Below is the NWS Taunton Winter Weather Advisory, Hazardous Weather Outlook and Snowfall Map..
