Storm Coordination Message #1 – Saturday 3/29/25-Sunday AM 3/20/25 Icing Event for Northern Massachusetts Hill Towns Around 1000 Feet or Higher

Hello to all…

..Frontal boundary and storm system will bring icing to the hill towns of Northwest and North-Central Massachusetts particularly Saturday Evening through Sunday Morning. It is noted that portions of Southern and South-Central New Hampshire could see a damaging ice storm from this event..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 11 AM Sunday Morning for Franklin, Western Hampshire, Northern Worcester and Northern Middlesex Counties of Massachusetts for a trace to 0.20″ of icing especially at elevations around or above 1,000 feet. If icing levels were to get to 0.25″ or higher, isolated pockets of tree, wire damage and power outages would be possible otherwise the main threat is hazardous travel..
..It is noted that Southern and South-Central New Hampshire could see icing at or greater than 0.50″ of ice and if that occurs a damaging ice storm could cause more widespread tree and power lines damage in this area..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor icing potential in the hilltowns of Northwest and North-Central Massachusetts. Amateur Radio Call-Up Nets on Sunday Morning like the Western Massachusetts Emergency Net via HF and various weekly VHF Western Massachusetts ARES Nets are requested to solicit icing and icing damage reports. This will be the only coordination message on this storm event unless a significant change to the situation occurs and time allows for an update.
