Severe Weather Coordination Message #1 – Saturday 11/13/21 Severe Weather and Strong Wind Gust Potential

Hello to all…

..Another strong cold front will bring a period of strong winds and the potential for Isolated to Scattered Strong to Severe Thunderstorms with the potential for strong to damaging winds, hail, brief heavy rainfall leading to urban and poor drainage flooding and at least some lightning as the primary threats with an isolated tornado as a secondary threat..
..The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has much of Connecticut, Southwest and South-Central Massachusetts and North-Central Rhode Island in a slight risk for severe weather with a marginal risk for severe weather over the rest of Southern New England..
..A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect through 700 PM EDT for Connecticut and Rhode Island and adjacent areas of Massachusetts should monitor closely..
..Strong Wind Gusts of around 40 MPH or likely later tonight into early Sunday Morning after the front and any thunderstorms passes through the region. These winds may cause isolated pockets of tree and wire damage and isolated power outages..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor the severe weather and strong wind potential for Saturday Afternoon and Evening. This will be the only coordination message on this severe weather potential as we shift into operations mode.
