..Coastal Storm Continues On Track to Southern New England for mid to late Tuesday Afternoon through early Wednesday Afternoon. Blizzard Warnings issued for portions of Southeast Coastal Massachusetts. Additional Winter Weather headlines issued/adjusted as well..
..A Blizzard Warning is now in effect for Eastern and Southern Plymouth County Massachusetts and Cape Cod and the Islands from 7 PM Tuesday Evening through 1 PM Wednesday Afternoon for 8-14 Inches snow. In the Blizzard Warning area, sustained winds of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH and potentially isolated higher wind gusts at the height of the storm could lead to blizzard conditions in this area..
..A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 1 PM Tuesday Afternoon to 1 PM Wednesday Afternoon for Bristol County, the remainder of Plymouth County, Essex, Middlesex, Worcester, Suffolk, and Norfolk Counties of Massachusetts, all of Rhode Island and Block Island RI and Northern Connecticut for 6-10 inches of snow with isolated higher amounts possible along east and South Coastal Massachusetts and for sustained winds of 10-25 MPH with gusts to 35-45 MPH with the highest winds in East Coastal and Southeast Massachusetts and Rhode Island. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 1 PM Tuesday Afternoon to 1 PM Wednesday Afternoon for Eastern Hampshire and Eastern Hampden Counties for 4-8 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 30 MPH..
..A Winter Storm Watch is now in effect for all of Southern New Hampshire for the potential of 4-8 Inches of Snow and wind gusts between 20-30 MPH..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Franklin, Western Hampden and Western Hampshire Counties of Massachusetts for 4-6″ of snow and wind gusts to 20 MPH..
..A Wind Chill Advisory is now in effect from 10 PM Tuesday Night to 10 AM Wednesday Morning for Franklin, Hampshire, Hampden, Worcester, Central and Northern Middlesex Counties of Massachusetts and Tolland and Windham Counties of Connecticut and Cheshire and West-Central Hillsborough Counties of Southern New Hampshire for wind chill readings between -15 and -24 degrees below zero. Areas outside of the Wind Chill Advisory will also be bitterly cold with wind chill readings below zero over portions of tonight and Wednesday Morning.

Computer models continued to converged overnight on the solution closer to the Southern New England coast. With the increased confidence, Blizzard Warnings have now been issued for Eastern and Southern Plymouth Counties of Massachusetts and Cape Cod and the Islands. Additional Winter Storm Warnings, Winter Weather Advisories and an expansion of the Winter Storm Watch in Southern New Hampshire were also issued per headlines above with snowfall amount forecasts listed in the headlines. Wind Chill Advisories have been issued for portions of Southern New Hampshire, Western and Central Massachusetts and North-Central and Northeast Connecticut for wind chills between -15 and -24 degrees below zero late tonight through Wednesday Morning. Areas outside of the Wind Chill Advisories could see Wind Chill readings below zero.
While there is the potential for blizzard conditions in the Blizzard Warning area and the potential for near blizzard conditions in the southeast portion of the Winter Storm Warning areas, the snow and strong winds is expected to be a lighter and fluffier snow and winds are not expected to be as strong as the February 2013 blizzard. In fact, conditions are likely to be similar to what was experienced during the blizzard of early January 2014. Isolated pockets of tree and wire damage and isolated power outages will be possible along the Southeast Massachusetts coast line and Cape Cod and the Islands but the extent of any damage from a wind perspective is expected to be less than the February 2013 blizzard. This will continue to be monitored. Like with any larger storm, it is always good to be prepared and have any battery operated and generator equipment prepared just in case and if its not needed, you will be better prepared for the next major storm.
Unlike the early January 2014 blizzard, coastal flooding is not as a big of a threat due to lower astronomical high tides and a wind direction out of the north. Nonetheless, this will be monitored for north facing beaches in East Coastal Massachusetts and Cape Cod at the time of high tide early Wednesday Morning.
