Severe Weather Coordination Message #1 – Monday July 27th 2015 Strong to Severe Weather Potential
Hello to all..
..Isolated to Scattered Strong Thunderstorms likely today with an isolated severe thunderstorm or two possible today. Threat area appears to be across Eastern New England but cannot rule out a few strong thunderstorms in the western part of the coverage area as well. Frequent lightning and heavy rainfall with urban and poor drainage flooding are the main threats but strong winds and hail are possible in a couple of thunderstorms. Overnight thunderstorms in Rhode Island and Southeast Massachusetts resulted in a few spots receiving 1-2″ of rain in a 1.5-3 hour period along with frequent lightning causing a few power outages..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor ongoing activity this morning in Southeast New England. SKYWARN Activation with Ops at NWS Taunton will start at Noon today through early this evening to monitor the strong to severe weather potential for today. This will be the only coordination message on today’s strong to severe weather potential. Below is the NWS Taunton Hazardous Weather Outlook..
