Storm Coordination Message #1 – Sunday 2/11/18 Heavy Rainfall/Flood Potential

Hello to all…

..Storm System will bring a widespread rainfall of 1-2″ with isolated higher amounts of 2-3″ in Southeast New England as well as the potential for strong winds on the Cape and Islands..
..A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Rhode Island and Bristol, Plymouth and Barnstable Counties of Massachusetts through Sunday Evening for this rainfall of 1-3″. These rains could bring urban to poor drainage flooding and a few small rivers such as the Pawtuxet, Pawcatuck and Wood Rivers to minor flood stage..
..Strong Wind Gusts on the Cape and Islands are possible Sunday Evening. At this time, wind gusts of around 40 MPH are possible but there is a low risk for wind gusts as high as 45-50 MPH and will be monitored in future updates..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor for rainfall, flooding and wind reports through Sunday Evening. This will be the only coordination message unless a significant upgrade to the situation occurs and time allows for an update. Below is the NWS Taunton Flood Watch Statement, Hazardous Weather Outlook and Enhanced Hazardous Weather Outlook..
