A strong cold front will move through Southern New England Wednesday and Wednesday Night with very strong to damaging winds, heavy rainfall and a change to snow with a possible flash freeze on residual wet surfaces. The headlines depict the current thinking. Key factors include:

1.) In the southerly wind flow ahead of the front, the ability of strong winds to reach the surface depending on how warm temperatures are and any convective showers that allow the strong winds to reach the surface.
2.) As the winds shift to west, the rapid fall of temperatures and rapid rise in pressure could enhance the damaging wind potential and will bear watching.
3.) Flash freeze and any snow accumulation as the front passes for a period of slippery travel.

SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor for rain gauge reports, measured wind gust 40 MPH or greater, wind damage reports, and any snow accumulation/icing/flash freeze conditions in the region. Pictures of storm damage can be posted as a reply to this message, via the WX1BOX Facebook/Twitter feeds and via the email address pics@nsradio.org with credit given to the spotter unless otherwise indicated.
