..Accumulating snow expected across a wider portion of Southern New England with some snow squall activity expected Thursday Morning. Highest amounts will still be across Southeast coastal Massachusetts late New Year’s Eve Night into New Year’s Day Morning but other parts of Southern New England could be near or at those totals. ..A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 7 PM Wednesday Evening to 1 PM Thursday Afternoon for Cape Cod and Marthas Vineyard for 2-4″ of snow. A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect for all of Rhode Island, Tolland, Windham Counties of Connecticut, Western Franklin, Western Hampshire, Worcester, Norfolk, Bristol and Plymouth Counties of Massachusetts for 2-4″ of snow. The Winter Weather Advisory for Nantucket is cancelled. Areas outside of the Winter Weather Advisory away from Southeast Coastal Massachusetts will see a coating to 2″ of snow..
..A short period of snowfall rates up to 1″ per hour is possible overnight in and close to the Winter Weather Advisory areas..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor for snowfall reports including monitoring of the Thursday Morning Cape & Islands Weather Net and various other repeaters and the *NEW-ENG3* Echolink conference node: 7203/IRLP 9219 reflector system Thursday Morning. Pictures/videos of the storm can be sent as a reply to this message via our WX1BOX Facebook/X/Bluesky feeds or to the email address pics@nsradio.org with credit given to the spotter unless otherwise indicated. This will likely be the last coordination message on this storm event unless a significant update to the situation occurs and time allows for an update..
