..After the snow and ice wintry mix Wednesday Night through Thursday Night, strong to damaging winds coupled with any wet snow and ice accumulation will cause isolated to scattered pockets of tree and wire damage and power outages today..
..A Wind Advisory is now in effect through 7 PM Friday for Northern Connecticut, Western and Central Massachusetts including Northern Middlesex County Massachusetts and Rhode Island for sustained winds of 15-25 MPH with gusts 45-50 MPH and isolated higher wind gusts to 55 MPH in higher terrain locations of Western and Central Massachusetts. Areas outside of the Wind Advisory could see wind gusts up to 40 MPH with isolated higher wind gusts..
..These wind gusts particularly in areas that received wet snow and/or ice accumulation will see isolated to scattered pockets of tree and wire damage and isolated power outages. A wintry mix of precipitation is expected as we get into tonight into Thursday Morning across Southern New England. The headlines depict the current thinking. Key factors include:

1.) Amount of icing and how widespread the icing is. More widespread 1/4″ or more icing amounts could result in isolated pockets of tree and wire damage and isolated power outages in the advisory area.
2.) How far southeast any icing occurs and whether a flash freeze and light freezing drizzle develops into areas southeast of the advisory area through the day on Thursday. At this time later in the day Thursday into early Friday Morning, icing conditions could occur away from the south coast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island so Winter Weather Advisories were posted for these areas for later Thursday Afternoon into Friday Morning.

SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor for snow accumulation, ice accumulation, precip type reports and any icing damage reports. Amateur Radio Call-Up Nets are possible later this evening and Thursday Morning particularly if icing accumulations cause significant travel issues as well as any isolated damage to infrastructure. Another coordination message will be posted by 10 PM this evening if time allows and whether Amateur Radio call-up nets are utilized for storm monitoring. ..Light Snowfall expected in two areas – one area is in Southeast Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut overnight Monday Night into mid-Tuesday Morning. Snowfall amounts of a Coating to 1″ are expected currently though some high resolution models have hinted at higher amounts though that is not the most plausible scenario at this time. Will monitor closely for higher snowfall totals in this area particularly in the early to mid Tuesday Morning timeframe..
..A second round of light snow and wintry mix is possible across Western, North-Central and Northeast Massachusetts where a coating to 3″ of snow with isolated higher amounts are possible in the late Tuesday Afternoon to Tuesday Night timeframe..
..A widespread wintry mix/icing event is likely Wednesday Night into Thursday Night for much of Southern New England but especially north and west of the I-95 corridor. What the predominant form of precipitation occurs is unclear at this time but both the Thursday Morning and Evening commutes could be hazardous for our region..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor all three storm systems starring with the first two storm systems overnight tonight into mid-morning Tuesday and late Tuesday Afternoon through Tuesday Night. If time allows, another coordination message on the various storm systems will be posted by 11 AM Tuesday Morning. ..Light Wintry Mix may cause icy travel conditions in Western, Central and Northeast Massachusetts this Tuesday Evening into very early Wednesday Morning. This could extend further south into the Hartford CT to Providence RI to Boston Mass area and will bear watching..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect from 7 PM Tuesday Evening to 2 AM Wednesday Morning for Franklin, Hampshire, Hampden, Worcester, Middlesex and Essex Counties of Massachusetts for freezing rain causing a light icy glaze on roads and sidewalks causing slippery travel along with a coating to 1″ of snow/sleet..
