Storm Coordination Message #4 – Sunday 1/18/26-Monday AM 1/19/26 Light to Moderate Snowstorm

..Many thanks to all Amateur Radio and non-Amateur Radio SKYWARN Spotters who sent reports on the Saturday snowstorm which has now ended and had amounts a bit more than expected. Areas of Western Massachusetts through North-Central Massachusetts received 4-8″ of snow while areas of Northern Connecticut through parts of South-Central and interior Northeast Massachusetts received 2-5″ of snow..
..Focus now shifts to the Sunday through Early Monday AM snowstorm which will have greater impacts in Eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island in addition to parts of Central Massachusetts and much of Connecticut but even areas of Western Massachusetts are now expected to receive Advisory level snowfall..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect through 7 AM Monday for all of Rhode Island, Essex, Central and Southeast Middlesex, Southern Worcester, Norfolk, Bristol, Plymouth Counties of Massachusetts, Cape Cod and Islands for 3-6″ of snow with isolated higher snowfall amounts to 7″..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect through 7 AM Monday for Northern Connecticut, Franklin, Hampshire, Hampden, Northern Worcester and Northern Middlesex Counties of Massachusetts for 2-5″ of snow..
..Nantucket Island will get a rain/snow mix but could see a coating to 2″ of snow..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation with Amateur Radio Nets are likely Sunday Afternoon/Evening with nets for final snowfall totals Monday Morning. Nets will likely be in the 6-11 PM timeframe Sunday Evening and the 6-10 AM timeframe Monday Morning. This will be the last coordination message unless a significant update to the situation occurs, we are able to publish a net schedule as we work with our coordinator team and time allows for an update as we shift into operations mode. Pictures/videos of the storm can be sent as a reply to this message via our WX1BOX Facebook/X/Bluesky feeds or to the email address pics@nsradio.org with credit given to the spotter unless otherwise indicated.
