Storm Coordination Message #1 – Thursday Night to Friday AM Heavy Rainfall & Friday Mid-PM to Saturday AM Strong to Damaging Wind Potential
Hello to all…
..Storm system will bring heavy rainfall of 1-2″ with isolated higher amounts of 2-3″ in some areas overnight to early Friday Morning causing some minor urban and poor drainage street flooding with some strong wind gusts and then there will be potential for strong to damaging winds late Friday PM and Evening (Halloween Evening) through Saturday AM. Those trick or treating or with Halloween decorations should be mindful of the wind conditions, tie down decorations etc. and plan accordingly..
..A Wind Advisory is in effect from 2 PM Friday to 5 AM Saturday for Northern Connecticut, Western and Central Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the Islands including Block Island for sustained winds of 25-35 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH and isolated higher gusts possible. Areas outside of the Wind Advisory could see wind gusts to 40-45 MPH with isolated higher gusts. These winds will cause isolated to scattered pockets of tree, power line damage and power outages..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor for rain gauge reports, urban/poor drainage flooding from heavy rainfall, measured wind gusts 40 MPH or greater, and wind damage reports. Pictures and videos of storm damage and rain related flooding can be sent as a reply to this message via the WX1BOX Facebook/X/Bluesky feeds or to the email address pics@nsradio.org with credit given to the spotter unless otherwise indicated. Another coordination message will be posted by 10 AM Friday Morning.
