Storm Coordination Message #1 – Wednesday Christmas Eve 12/24/25 Strong Wind Gust & Ocean Effect Snow Potential

Hello to all…

..Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all Amateur Radio and non-Amateur Radio SKYWARN Spotters..
..Today’s light snow event underproduced particularly in Western Mass but portions of North-Central and Northeast Mass have recorded up to 1″ of snow and may see another inch or two overnight. This will set the stage for strong wind gusts on Christmas Eve with the potential for ocean effect snow showers from the Cape Ann North Shore area to parts of Eastern Plymouth County Massachusetts which could see a coating to 1″ of snow but if some heavier model solutions verify, it could result in 1-2″ of snow with isolated higher amounts..
..A Wind Advisory is in effect from 3 AM-12 PM Wednesday for Western Franklin, Western Hampshire and Western Hampden Counties of Massachusetts and from 7 AM-3 PM Wednesday for Cape Cod and the Islands for sustained winds 15-25 MPH and wind gusts 45-50 MPH. Areas outside of the Wind Advisory could see wind gusts of around 40 MPH. These winds could result in isolated pockets of tree and wire damage and power outages..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor for strong wind gusts and snowfall totals in North-Central/Northeast Massachusetts with the snow that has been occurring this evening and then ocean effect snow showers from Cape Ann to Eastern Plymouth County Massachusetts later Wednesday Morning into Wednesday Evening. This will be the only coordination message on this event unless a significant update to the situation occurs and time allows for an update.
