Storm Coordination Message #1 – Monday Evening 12/29/25-Tuesday Night 12/30/25 Strong to Damaging Wind Potential
Hello to all…
..Icing has largely ended except for a few colder spots in Southern New England with areas of dense fog and reduced visibility reported. Any reports of icing using the method as described by NWS Gray Maine to measure ice that is also highlighted in SKYWARN training are welcome including pictures where possible. Damaging icing has been reported in Central New Hampshire, parts of Vermont and Maine this morning. Attention now turns to the strong to damaging wind potential for later Monday Night into Tuesday Night..
..A High Wind Watch is now in effect from Monday Evening through Tuesday Night for Franklin, Hampshire, Hampden, Worcester and Northern Middlesex Counties of Massachusetts for sustained winds of 20-30 MPH and gusts up to 60 MPH. Other areas could see wind gusts around or over 50 MPH outside the High Wind Watch area. These winds will cause scattered pockets of tree and wire damage and power outages in the region..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor for measured wind gusts 40 MPH or greater and wind damage reports tonight through Tuesday Night. Pictures and videos of wind damage and other storm related issues can be sent as a reply to this email, via our WX1BOX Facebook/X feeds or to the email address pics@nsradio.org with credit given to the spotter unless otherwise indicated. A more complete coordination message will be posted by 10 PM Monday Evening.
