..Wintry Mix will affect portions of Southern New England Monday Afternoon through Tuesday Morning as a warm front brings below normal temperatures to an end across the region..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Western, Central and interior Northeast Massachusetts north of the Mass. Pike and away from the coast, Northern Connecticut and Northwest Rhode Island from 1 PM Monday Afternoon through 6 AM Tuesday Morning for snow accumulations of 1-2 inches and icing of a trace to one-tenth of an inch which will lead to slippery travel over this region impacting the Monday Evening commute..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Southern New Hampshire from 1 PM Monday Afternoon through 6 AM Tuesday Morning for snow accumulations of 2-4 inches and icing of around a trace which will lead to slippery travel over this region impacting the Monday Evening commute..
..Across the remainder of the region a brief period of snow and ice may occur with accumulations of snow of one inch or less and a trace of ice before precipitation changes over to rain and ends as the warm front pushes through the area..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will be utilized to obtain snowfall reports and changeover in precipitation type as well as icing issues around the region Monday Evening. ..Snow bands remained offshore resulting in very light amounts of a dusting to 1 inch over much of interior Massachusetts, Northern Rhode Island and Northern Connecticut with 2-5.5″ of snow across South Coastal Massachusetts and Rhode Island including Cape Cod and the Islands..
..All Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories have been cancelled. A Wind Chill Advisory has been issued for Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire and Worcester Counties of Massachusetts for dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation for snowfall reports will continue through 830 AM and then secure. Next storm of concern is in the Friday to Saturday timeframe. ..Snowstorm in progress over portions of Southern New England..
..A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 1 PM Tuesday for Essex County Massachusetts and Barnstable County (Cape Cod) for 6 to 9 inches of snow with isolated higher amounts up to 1 foot possible..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 7 AM Tuesday for Plymouth County, Marthas Vineyard and Nantucket for 3-6″ of snow. Isolated higher amounts are possible over the islands..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 7 AM Tuesday for Northeast Connecticut, Rhode Island and Southeast Massachusetts for 3-5″ of snow with the higher amounts over south coastal Massachusetts and Rhode Island..
..SKYWARN Self Activation is being utilized for snowfall reports from around the region..

This message has been shortened due to storm operations and self-activation for reports having already started. The following is the current information on the storm as of earlier this afternoon. It is noted that there is some model data indicating the heaviest snow bands may setup along or just offshore presenting some concerns for the northern extent of the snowfall based on current radar trends. The forecast expectations is for the band to rotate and move up northward with other bands organizing as the band moves north. Models continue to struggle with where the heavier snow bands will setup creating the potential for snowfall forecasts that could have wider variances than normal given the storm is ongoing.

SKYWARN Self-Activation will continue to be utilized starting Tuesday Morning with the Cape Cod and Islands Weather Net at 600 AM to gather snowfall data. ..A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect from 4 PM this afternoon through 10 AM Tuesday Morning for all of Rhode Island, Central Middlesex, Western Norfolk, and Bristol Counties of Massachusetts where a general 2-4 inch snowfall is likely with the potential for 3-6 inches over the south coast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island depending on the storm track and where the heaviest snow bands setup..
..Areas outside of the Winter Storm Watch/Winter Weather Advisory regions are likely to receive 1-3″ of snow..
..Strong Winds may reach Wind Advisory criteria on Cape Cod and the Islands after the snow ends late Tuesday Morning..

Uncertainty remains a bit higher than normal with the winter storm expected to impact the region this afternoon through Tuesday Morning. The heaviest bands of snow will be difficult to pinpoint and a variance of just 50 miles could make significant differences on snowfall totals for the region based on the storm track and the setup from this storm where heaviest snow will fall in smaller bands over the region. A track closer to the coast would bring heavier snow to more locations further inland while a track further offshore would keep the heavier snow bands more offshore and lower snowfall amounts particularly away from the immediate coasts.

A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Monday Afternoon through Tuesday Morning for Essex and Plymouth Counties as well as Cape Cod and the Islands for 4-8″ of snow. Isolated higher amounts are possible depending on the storm track and where the heaviest snow bands setup. A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect from 4 PM this afternoon through 10 AM Tuesday Morning for all of Rhode Island, Central Middlesex, Western Norfolk, and Bristol Counties of Massachusetts where a general 2-4 inch snowfall is likely with the potential for 3-6 inches over the south coast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island depending on the snow track and where the heaviest snow bands setup. ..After Strong Winds today into tonight usher in cold air. A Winter Storm is likely for portions of Eastern Massachusetts and portions of Eastern Rhode Island..
..A Winter Storm Watch is now in effect from Monday Afternoon through Tuesday Morning for Essex, Southeast Middlesex, Eastern Norfolk, and Plymouth Counties as well as Cape Cod and the Islands for 4-8″ of snow. Isolated higher amounts are possible depending on the storm track..
..Portions of Eastern Massachusetts and Eastern Rhode Island not under the current Winter Storm Watch may see advisory level snowfall..
..SKYWARN Activation in some form is likely for this storm event for Monday Afternoon into Tuesday Morning. At this time, it looks like a self-activation of SKYWARN is likely with Ops at the NWS Taunton office possible for this event..

After strong wind gusts in the 45-55 MPH range and isolated damage reports during the course of Sunday, colder air will plunge into the region overnight Sunday Night. With the cold air in place, another storm system will take aim on portions of Eastern New England with accumulating to significant snow likely in this area.

A Winter Storm Watch is now in effect from Monday Afternoon through Tuesday Morning for Essex, Southeast Middlesex, Eastern Norfolk, and Plymouth Counties as well as Cape Cod and the Islands for 4-8″ of snow. Isolated higher amounts are possible depending on the storm track. Portions of Eastern Massachusetts and Eastern Rhode Island not under the current Winter Storm Watch may see advisory level snowfall.

It is noted that the track of this storm system is a bit more uncertain than normal given the close timeframe of the storm impacts. If there is a track closer to the coast, heavier snowfall could occur in the current Winter Storm Watch area with an expansion of heavier snowfall into much of Eastern Massachusetts and Eastern Rhode Island. A track of the storm further offshore would mean lesser snow especially over inland areas but could also mean lower snowfall amounts at the coast as well.

SKYWARN Activation in some form is likely for this storm event for Monday Afternoon into Tuesday Morning. At this time, it looks like a self-activation of SKYWARN is likely with Ops at the NWS Taunton office possible for this event. An updated coordination message will be issued by 9 AM Monday Morning. Hello to all..

..A cold front will move through the region bringing colder air and strong winds as the front approaches and passes through Southern New England..
..A Wind Advisory is in effect from 900 AM to 10 PM Today for the entire NWS Taunton Coverage Area for sustained winds of 15 to 25 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH. The strongest winds will likely occur this afternoon and evening as the front moves through the region. These winds may be enough to cause isolated pockets of tree and wire damage and possibly isolated power outages..
..It is noted that a coastal storm system will follow Monday Night into Tuesday bringing the potential for a moderate to possibly even heavy snowstorm to portions of East Coastal and Southeast Massachusetts and parts of Rhode Island. Coordination Messages for this storm system may start later tonight. Another coastal storm system is possible Friday but it is too early to get into details on that system..

..A Wind Advisory is now in effect from 7 AM to 6 PM Saturday for Cape Cod and the Islands for sustained winds of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50 MPH. This may cause isolated tree and wire damage and isolated power outages. Strong winds may affect this region again Sunday resulting in an additional Wind Advisory..

A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect from 4 AM to 7 PM Wednesday for Franklin, Hampshire, Hampden, Worcester, Western Essex, Northern and Central Middlesex Counties of Massachusetts for 3-5″ of snow and a trace of ice. The heaviest snow is likely to fall during the Wednesday Morning commute timeframe. Areas along and south of the Mass. Pike may see snow change over to a mix of snow, sleet and rain or possibly all rain late Wednesday Morning..
..Across the region from Boston to Providence south and east an inch or two of snow is possible before a change over to sleet and rain. Its noted that despite being less than 24 hours from the event, the area of heaviest snow and any areas that changeover to mixed precipitation or rain could still change based on storm track and amount of cold air over the region. This is especially true for the Boston-Providence area to the Cape Cod Canal where colder temperatures or a slightly further south storm track could cause higher snow amounts in this area.
