Another winter storm in the endless series of winter storms for the 2014-2015 Winter Season will affect the region Sunday Afternoon through early Monday Morning. The headlines of this message depict the latest thinking on this winter storm with the biggest change being an expansion of the Winter Storm Watch through South Coastal Massachusetts and Rhode Island including Cape Cod and Winter Weather Advisories posted surrounding the Winter Storm Watch area. It is noted there could be some mixed precipitation but that now appears to be confined to the islands versus in the south coastal portion of Massachusetts an Rhode Island. Northern parts of the NWS Taunton coverage area are expected to see advisory level snowfall amounts slightly lower than the Winter Storm Watch area.
SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor this storm system for snowfall reports and possibly changeover in precipitation type along the islands. Another coordination message will be sent by 1100 AM Sunday Morning. Below is the NWS Taunton Winter Storm Watch Statement, Hazardous Weather Outlook, and Winter Weather Graphics:
