Storm Coordination Message #1 – 11/24/16 Thanksgiving Day Light Wintry Mix Potential

Hello to all..

..Happy Thanksgiving to all SKYWARN Spotters and Amateur Radio Operators..
..From early Thanksgiving morning through Thanksgiving Night, light snow and freezing drizzle creating a light wintry mix is likely across interior Southern New England particularly at higher elevation locations but could also impact lower elevation areas north and west of the I-95 corridor. Snowfall amounts are currently expected to be 1″ or less with isolated 2″ amounts in higher elevation locations of Northwest Massachusetts with the possibility of a trace of ice making some road surfaces particularly in higher elevations slippery. Given the travel that takes place for the Thanksgiving holiday, this coordination message is being sent to highlight the light wintry mix potential and to gather any snow/ice accumulation reports for this event..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor this light wintry mix event. Another coordination message will be posted by 9 PM this evening. Below is the NWS Taunton Hazardous Weather Outlook and Winter Weather Graphics..
