Storm Coordination Message #4 – Tuesday PM 1/16/18-Wednesday PM 1/17/18 Moderate Winter Storm Potential

Hello to all…

..A more widespread moderate snowstorm is still expected in Southern New England Tuesday Night into Wednesday Afternoon..
..A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect from 7 PM Tuesday Night to 3 PM Wednesday Afternoon for Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden Counties of Massachusetts and Hartford and Tolland Counties of Connecticut and from 1 AM to 6 PM Wednesday for Windham County Connecticut, Northwest Providence County Rhode Island, Worcester, Middlesex, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk Counties of Massachusetts for 5-8″ of snow with the lower end of the range in southern portions of the warning area and highest totals in the range in the northern portions of the warning area..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect from 1 AM to 1 PM Wednesday for Southeast Providence and Kent Counties Rhode Island Northern Bristol and North-Central Plymouth Counties of Massachusetts for 2-5″ of snow before a changeover to rain..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect from 1 AM to 9 AM Wednesday South Coastal Massachusetts and South Coastal Rhode Island for 2-3″ of snow before a changeover to rain. Cape Cod and the Islands are expected to be mostly rain from this event though parts of the Cape closer to the Canal could get a coating to 2″ of snow before the changeover..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation with Amateur Radio Call-Up Nets will monitor for snowfall reports across the region late tonight and particularly Wednesday Morning into Wednesday Afternoon..

Another coastal storm system will approach Southern New England late Tuesday into Wednesday Afternoon bringing a moderate plowable snowfall to much of interior and Northeast Coastal Massachusetts. The headlines reflect the current thinking with Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories posted for much of the region away from Cape Cod and the Islands. Across the remainder Rhode Island and Southeast Massachusetts, this is where there is lower confidence in snowfall amounts pending the rain-snow line and any mixed precipitation in this area.

SKYWARN Self-Activation with Amateur Radio Call-Up Nets will monitor for snowfall reports across the region late tonight and particularly Wednesday Morning into Wednesday Afternoon. Another coordination message will be posted by 11 PM Tuesday Evening.
