Storm Coordination Message #1 – Wednesday 3/7/18-Thursday 3/8/18 Winter Storm Potential
Hello to all…
..Post Storm Coordination Message on the Major Coastal Storm delayed to get coordination message for the mid-week storm out first. Will push towards a post storm message this evening. Any damage photos can be posted as a reply to this email, via the WX1BOX Facebook or Twitter feeds or to the email address pics@nsradio.org..
..A Winter Storm Watch is now in effect from Wednesday Morning through Thursday Morning for Northern Connecticut, Providence, Kent and Washington Counties in Rhode Island, and Massachusetts from Norfolk and Suffolk Counties Massachusetts north and west for 6″ or more of snow. Areas of Southeast New England could see some accumulation before mixing with and changing to rain in these areas..
..Some strong winds are possible with wind gusts up to 50 MPH (nowhere near the wind gusts from the Friday-Saturday coastal storm)..
..Some minor coastal flooding is also possible in East Coastal Massachusetts but this will not be as severe as what occurred Friday into the weekend. It will slow down current clean up efforts and potentially have a bit more impact given weakened infrastructure..
..SKYWARN Activation in some form is likely for this storm. Ops at NWS Taunton are possible depending on the hazards presented from this storm system. A more complete coordination message will be posted by 11 PM this evening. Below is the NWS Taunton Winter Storm Watch Statement, Hazardous Weather Outlook, Enhanced Hazardous Weather Outlook and Snowfall Maps..
