Storm Coordination Message #1 – Late Wednesday Night 12/30/20-Thursday Morning 12/31/20 – Light Wintry Mix Potential for East Slopes of the Berkshires
Hello to all…
..Happy New Year to all SKYWARN Spotters and Amateur Radio Operators! We appreciate all the work done by SKYWARN Spotters and Amateur Radio Operators during a busy 2020 from a weather perspective also significantly impacted by COVID-19..
..Light wintry mix for the East slopes of the Berkshires overnight into early Thursday Morning. A more widespread wintry mix may occur Friday Night into Saturday Morning north and west of the I-95 corridor and could prompt Winter Weather Advisories Friday Night into Saturday Morning..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 7 AM Thursday for Western Franklin, Western Hampshire and Western Hampden Counties for a light wintry mix of up to 1″ of snow and a light glaze of ice causing hazardous travel conditions..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor the light wintry mix conditions. This will be the only a coordination message on this wintry mix situation unless a significant change to the situation occurs and time allows for an update. Coordination messages for the Friday Night/Saturday Morning storm will be posted as needed later Thursday Night or Friday. Below is the NWS Boston/Norton Winter Weather Advisory statement, Area Forecast Discussion, Enhanced Hazardous Weather Outlook and Snowfall Maps..
