Storm Coordination Message #2 – Late Monday Evening 2/27/23-Tuesday Evening 2/28/23 Winter Storm Event

Hello to all…

..A moderate plowable snowstorm remains likely for much of Southern New England late Monday Night into Tuesday Afternoon..
..A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Monday Evening through Tuesday Evening for Western Franklin, Western Hampshire and Western Hampden Counties of Massachusetts for the potential of 5-8″ of snow with isolated higher amounts of up to 10″..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect for the remainder of the NWS Boston/Norton coverage area from 7 PM Monday to 7 PM Tuesday except for Eastern Massachusetts where the advisory is in effect from 9 PM Monday to 7 PM Tuesday for 2-6″ of snow with isolated higher amounts possible depending on snow intensity and whether or not precipitation remains snow for most or all of the event. Wind Gusts to 35 MPH are also possible..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation with Amateur Radio Call-Up Nets are likely for this storm and a schedule of nets will likely be posted as we get into Monday Morning and likely centered from Tuesday Morning through mid-afternoon Tuesday though there could be one or two late Monday evening call-up nets in Western Massachusetts..

A moderate plowable snowstorm remains likely for much of Southern New England late Monday Night into Tuesday Afternoon. The headlines depict the current thinking. Key factors include:
1.) The strength of the approaching system as if its able to maintain strength further south and east, it could result in a bit more snowfall in portions of the current Winter Weather Advisory area.
2.) Exact placement of the heaviest snowfall. The highest confidence is in the Winter Storm Watch area but there could be a second maximum in another part of Southern New England depending on how the system maintains intensity as it moves through the area.

SKYWARN Self-Activation with Amateur Radio Call-Up Nets are likely for this storm and a schedule of nets will likely be posted as we get into Monday Morning and likely centered from Tuesday Morning through mid-afternoon Tuesday though there could be one or two late Monday evening call-up nets in Western Massachusetts. Another coordination message will be posted by 1130 AM Monday Morning.
