Storm Coordination Message #1 – Thursday Night 2/15/24 Thru Friday PM 2/16/24 Accumulating Light Snow & Strong to Damaging Wind Potential

Hello to all…

..A clipper system will bring light snowfall amounts this evening into the early overnight hours to much of interior Southern New England with a Coating to 3″ expected with isolated higher amounts up to 4″ in the East slopes of the Berkshires. The light snow will be followed by strong to damaging wind gusts after the clipper system and its associated cold front passes through the region during the overnight Friday into early Friday Afternoon..
..A Wind Advisory is now in effect from 1 AM Friday Morning to 1 AM Friday Afternoon for Hartford County Connecticut, Western Franklin, Western Hampden and Western Hampshire Counties of Massachusetts for sustained winds of 25-35 MPH with gusts to 55 MPH. A Wind Advisory is in effect from 4 AM Friday Morning to 1 PM Friday Afternoon for Tolland, Windham Counties of Connecticut, Middlesex, Worcester, Eastern Franklin, Eastern Hampshire, Eastern Hampshire Counties of Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the islands including Block Island RI for sustained winds of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 50-55 MPH. Areas outside the wind advisory will see wind gusts of 40-45 MPH. These winds will cause isolated to scattered pockets of tree and wire damage and power outages..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor for snowfall reports tonight and final snowfall reports, measured wind gusts 40 MPH or greater and wind damage reports Friday Morning into the early afternoon. This will be the only coordination message unless a significant update to the situation occurs and time allows for an update.
