Storm Coordination Message #2 – Wednesday Evening 3/4/15-Thursday Morning 3/5/15 Winter Storm Event
Hello to all..
..Another Winter Storm expected tonight into Thursday. This storm focused on South Coastal New England. Uncertainty level higher than normal for this particular event due to a sharp cutoff in the heavier versus lighter snow, timing the transition from rain to snow from north to south and just a small deviation of track of 30-50 miles can make a significant difference in snowfall amounts particularly along and south of the Mass Pike (higher snowfall if the track is a bit further north, lower snowfall if the track is a bit further south)..
..A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 7 PM Wednesday Evening through 7 PM Thursday Evening for Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Islands for 4-8″ of snow..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for South-Central Rhode Island and South Coastal Massachusetts for 2-5″ of snow from 7 PM Wednesday Evening to 7 PM Thursday Evening..
..Areas outside of the Winter Storm Warning/Winter Weather Advisory area will see a dusting to 2″ of snow..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor this winter storm event. This will likely be the only coordination message on this storm event unless a significant change to the situation occurs and time allows for an updated coordination message in that scenario.
