Storm Coordination Message #2 – Friday 2/24/23 – Strong Winds After Wet Snow/Sleet/Ice Accumulation

Hello to all…

..After the snow and ice wintry mix Wednesday Night through Thursday Night, strong to damaging winds coupled with any wet snow and ice accumulation will cause isolated to scattered pockets of tree and wire damage and power outages today..
..A Wind Advisory is now in effect through 7 PM Friday for Northern Connecticut, Western and Central Massachusetts including Northern Middlesex County Massachusetts and Rhode Island for sustained winds of 15-25 MPH with gusts 45-50 MPH and isolated higher wind gusts to 55 MPH in higher terrain locations of Western and Central Massachusetts. Areas outside of the Wind Advisory could see wind gusts up to 40 MPH with isolated higher wind gusts..
..These wind gusts particularly in areas that received wet snow and/or ice accumulation will see isolated to scattered pockets of tree and wire damage and isolated power outages. SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor the strong to damaging wind potential in the region particularly in areas that received snow and ice in the region. This will be the only coordination message on these strong winds unless a significant upgrade to the situation occurs and time allows for an update. Pictures of storm damage, icing etc. can be sent as a reply to this message, via our WX1BOX Facebook and Twitter feeds and the email address pics@nsradio.org.
