Heat & Severe Weather Coordination Message #1 – Tuesday 6/30/26 Severe Weather Potential – Wednesday 7/1/26-Friday 7/3/26 Heat & Severe Weather Potential
Hello to all…
..Intense Heat Wave Will Impact much of Southern New England Wednesday through Friday. Severe Weather may be possible a few days this week..
..An Excessive Heat Watch is in effect Wednesday Morning through Friday Evening for the entire NWS Norton Coverage Area except Cape Cod and the Islands for Heat Indices to 110 degrees. The heat could potentially extend to Saturday July 4th. Those working outside should take frequent breaks in Air Conditioned comfort and drink plenty of liquids..
..In addition, the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed a marginal risk for severe weather Tuesday into early Wednesday Morning for Western parts of New England as there could be severe thunderstorm potential prior to the heat wave build-up. This will be updated in future coordination messages with more detail as we get closer to this potential. Looking ahead, there could be severe weather potential later Thursday and Friday and future coordination messages will update that potential as well..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation with Amateur Radio-Call Up Nets will monitor any severe weather potential Tuesday into early Wednesday Morning. Pictures and videos of wind damage, hail, flooding etc. can be sent as a reply to this email, via our Facebook/X/Bluesky feeds or the email address pics@nsradio.org with credit given to the spotter unless otherwise indicated. The next coordination message will be posted on Monday no later than 11 PM.
