Storm Coordination Message #1 – Light Snow Event Thursday Night 1/19/12 thru Friday AM 1/20/12

Hello to all..

..A general light snowfall of a Dusting to 2″ with isolated amounts of around 3-4″ possible for the NWS Taunton County Warning Area tonight into Friday Morning. The highest amounts will be over interior locations with lesser amounts near the coast based on current storm trends. Roads will be slippery overnight and possibly into the Friday Morning commute for some areas so use caution if travelling during this period..
..A stronger storm system will affect the region Saturday into Saturday Night bringing the potential for a moderate snowstorm to the region. Further details and potential coordination messages on this storm system will likely start on Friday..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will be utilized to monitor snowfall conditions late this evening until 11 PM or 12 AM and again Friday Morning from around 6-8 AM to collect any snowfall totals. This will be the only coordination message issued on the Thursday Evening/Friday Morning storm system unless a significant change to this storm event occurs.
