Storm Coordination Message #2 – 11/24/16 Thanksgiving Day/Evening Light Wintry Mix Potential

Hello to all..

..Happy Thanksgiving to all SKYWARN Spotters and Amateur Radio Operators..
..From early Thanksgiving morning through Thanksgiving Night, light snow and freezing drizzle creating a light wintry mix is still likely across interior Southern New England particularly at higher elevation locations but could also impact lower elevation areas north and west of the I-95 corridor. Latest model runs have reduced precipitation amounts for during Thanksgiving Day with slightly more precipitation Thanksgiving night..
..Snowfall amounts are currently expected to be 1″ or less even in higher elevation locations of Northwest Massachusetts with the possibility of a trace of ice making some road surfaces particularly in higher elevations slippery. A light glaze of ice could occur particularly during Thanksgiving evening in higher elevations with more of a light rain in lower elevations particularly South and east of either the I-495 or I-95 corridors..
..Given the travel that takes place for the Thanksgiving holiday, this coordination message is being sent to highlight the light wintry mix potential and to gather any snow/ice accumulation reports for this event..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor this light wintry mix event. Another coordination message will be posted by 11 AM Thanksgiving Morning or later Thanksgiving evening as required. Below is the NWS Taunton Hazardous Weather Outlook and Winter Weather Graphics..
