Storm Coordination Message #2 – Saturday 12/9/17 Winter Storm Potential

Hello to all…

..First Accumulating Snow of the 2017-2018 Winter Season remains likely for much of Southern New England away from Cape Cod and the Islands. Slightly higher snowfall amounts are expected in portions of Central and Northeastern Massachusetts, Northwest Rhode Island and Northeast Connecticut..
..A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect from 4 AM Saturday to 7 AM Sunday for 4-7″ of snow with isolated higher amounts of up to 8″ for Windham County CT, Northwest Providence and Western Kent Counties of Rhode Island and Essex, Middlesex, Suffolk, Worcester and Western Norfolk Counties of Massachusetts..
..A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 400 AM Saturday to 700 AM Sunday for the rest of the NWS Taunton coverage area except for Cape Cod and the Islands for 3-6″ of snow. Lesser amounts could occur along southeast coastal New England if rain mixes with the snow..
..The current storm scenario seems the most likely outcome for this storm system though wobbles in storm track could affect total snowfall and heaviest areas of snowfall and any mixing in the Southeast Coastal New England area under the Winter Weather Advisory..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor the storm system with Amateur Radio call-up nets on various repeaters across the NWS Taunton Coverage area. Barring a significant change/upgrade in the situation, this will be the last coordination message on this storm event. Below is the NWS Taunton Winter Storm Warning/Winter Weather Advisory, Hazardous Weather Outlook, Experimental Enhanced Hazardous Weather Outlook and Facebook Infographics..
