Storm Coordination Message #1 – Late Thursday Night 2/1/18-Friday Morning 2/2/18 Snowfall Potential

Hello to all…

..A brief quick hitting snow along with a flash freeze timed with the Friday morning commute could cause travel issues and delays across portions of Southern New England. Plan ahead if travelling during the morning commute tomorrow particularly in Central and Eastern New England..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 PM Thursday Evening to 9 AM Friday Morning for Tolland and Windham Counties of Connecticut and Worcester County of Massachusetts for 2-4″ of snow. A coating to 2″ of snow is expected across much of the rest of Southern New England however its noted that portions of Southeast New England and possibly other parts of Eastern New England could see more snow based on signals in high resolution models. While not a big snowfall event overall, the timing of the snow near the morning commute along with the flash freeze with temperatures dipping quickly below freezing makes the impact potentially more significant and will bear watching..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor the storm system through late morning Friday. Another coordination message could be issued either late tonight or early Friday Morning if time allows and an upgrade to the situation occurs. Below is the NWS Taunton Winter Weather Advisory Statement, Special Weather Statement, Hazardous Weather Outlook, Enhanced Hazardous Weather Outlook and Snowfall Maps..
