Hello to all…
..This is an updated message on the significant severe weather struck Connecticut from portions of Litchfield County Connecticut to Southern Hartford Connecticut through Southern Connecticut into extreme Southwest Rhode Island Saturday Evening July 4th 2026. Nearly 100,000 customers were without power in Connecticut at the height of the severe weather with approximately 42,000 without power at the time of this message Sunday Evening. In addition, hail up to 3″ in diameter in portions of Bristol, Terryville and Plainville, CT caused cracked and smashed windshields and home windows. Additional isolated severe thunderstorms occurred in Northeast Massachusetts..
.. Pictures and videos of wind damage, hail, flooding etc. can be sent as a reply to this email, via our Facebook/X/Bluesky feeds or the email address pics@nsradio.org with credit given to the spotter unless otherwise indicated. Understanding hardest hit areas may not get their power back for several days, getting the late reports, pics and videos even several days later is helpful for post storm analysis..
..A Facebook Photo Album has been created with damage photos and hail from this severe weather event. We have also provided an updated WX1BOX Amateur Radio Report log of reports received. This post severe weather message will likely be updated one more time but this may not occur until the weekend of 7/11-7/12 depending on new data received and how the potential heavy rainfall/flood potential for Monday 7/6/26-Tuesday 7/7/26 unfolds for the region. Below is the WX1BOX Facebook Photo Album of photos with credit given to the spotter on each photo and the WX1BOX Amateur Radio Log from this significant severe weather event..
