Storm Coordination Message #1 – Monday AM 7/6/26-Tuesday PM 7/7/26 Heavy Rainfall/Strong Wind Gust Potential

Hello to all…

..Storm system is expected to bring beneficial rainfall but the rainfall in some areas may come too fast or too heavy despite dry conditions and result in urban and poor drainage street flooding to potentially small river and stream flooding. Some strong wind gusts to around 40 MPH are also possible at the coast which may cause isolated pockets of tree and wire damage and isolated power outages..
..A Flood Watch is now in effect from 2 AM Monday through Tuesday PM for Connecticut, Rhode Island and Southern Bristol County of Massachusetts for a widespread 1-3″ of rainfall but bands within the flood watch area could receive 4-6″+ of rainfall with isolated higher amounts inside of 6 hours. Those heavier bands of rainfall could result in urban, poor drainage flooding to flash flooding and the potential for small river and stream flooding. Areas outside of the flood watch should monitor as this rain area could shift a bit north, remain where it is or shift south in future updates..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation with Amateur Radio Call-Up nets are possible if a Flash Flood Warning is issued for rain gauge totals 1″ or more, any flooding issues, measured wind gusts 40 MPH or greater and any wind damage reports. Pictures and videos of wind damage, hail, flooding etc. can be sent as a reply to this email, via our Facebook/X/Bluesky feeds or the email address pics@nsradio.org with credit given to the spotter unless otherwise indicated. The next coordination message will be posted by 9 AM Monday Morning. Below is the NWS Boston/Norton Flood Watch Statement, Area Forecast Discussion and Enhanced Hazardous Weather Outlook..
