Wind/Severe Weather Coordination Message #1 – Late Wednesday Night 11/5/25-Thursday AM 11/6/25

Hello to all…

..Another Round of strong to damaging winds likely late Wednesday Night through the overnight into Thursday Morning and perhaps isolated strong to severe thunderstorms as well particularly in Western Massachusetts and Western Connecticut..
..A High Wind Watch is in effect from late Wednesday Night through Early Thursday Morning for all of Southern New England for sustained winds of 25-35 MPH with gusts to 60 MPH and isolated higher gusts to 65 MPH or more. These winds will result in scattered pockets of tree and wire damage and power outages..
..The Storm Prediction Center has also placed Western Massachusetts and Western Connecticut in a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms with strong to damaging winds and hail as the primary risks with heavy rainfall leading to urban and poor drainage flooding and frequent lightning..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor the damaging wind potential late Wednesday Night through Thursday Morning for reports of measured wind gusts 40 MPH or greater and any wind damage reports along with hail in any thunderstorms/convective showers. Pictures and videos of storm damage and rain related flooding can be sent as a reply to this message via the WX1BOX Facebook/X/Bluesky feeds or to the email address pics@nsradio.org with credit given to the spotter unless otherwise indicated..
..A more complete coordination message including a summary of Monday Evening’s severe weather event and Tuesday’s strong to damaging wind gusts will be posted by 11 AM Wednesday Morning below is the NWS Boston/Norton High Wind Watch Statement, Area Forecast Discussion, Enhanced Hazardous Weather Outlook and SPC Day-2 Convective Outlook..
