Storm Coordination Message #1 – Late Saturday PM 1/10/26-Sunday AM 1/11/26 Icing/Rainfall Potential Sunday Evening 1/12/25-Monday AM 1/13/26 – Strong Wind Gust & Snow Squall Potential

Hello to all…

..Storm system will bring a soaking rain to much of Southern New England but icing and hazardous travel conditions to portions of interior Massachusetts particularly at higher elevations late Saturday Afternoon into Sunday Morning. Sunday Evening into Monday Morning, strong wind gusts of 40-50 MPH and snow squalls will be possible as a cold front sweeps through the area..
..A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 5 PM Saturday Afternoon through 10 AM Sunday Morning for Western Franklin, Western Hampshire, Western Hampden, Northern Worcester and Northern Middlesex Counties of Massachusetts for a light glaze to 0.20″ of ice with the highest icing amounts in the east slopes of the Berkshires. The icing could cause hazardous travel conditions in this area..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor icing and hazardous travel conditions along with rain gauge reports 1″ or more through Sunday AM. SKYWARN Self-Activation will monitor the strong wind gust and snow squall potential Sunday Evening into Monday Morning. This will likely be the only coordination message on the icing event unless a significant update to the situation occurs and time allows for an update. A coordination message on the strong wind gusts and snow squall potential will be posted either later Saturday Evening or Sunday Morning.
