..Coastal Storm Track Closer to Southern New England for late Tuesday through midday Wednesday. Blizzard Watches issued for portions of Southeast Coastal Massachusetts. Additional Winter Storm Watches and Warnings issued as well..
..A Blizzard Watch is now in effect for Eastern Plymouth County Massachusetts from Tuesday Afternoon to Wednesday Afternoon for 6-10 inches of snow and the potential for blizzard conditions. A Blizzard Watch is also in effect for Southern Plymouth County Massachusetts and Cape Cod and the Islands from Tuesday Afternoon to Wednesday Afternoon for 8-14 inches of snow and the potential for blizzard conditions. In the Blizzard Watch area, sustained winds of 20-30 MPH with gusts to 45-50 MPH at the height of the storm could lead to blizzard conditions in this area..
..A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect from 1 PM Tuesday Afternoon to 1 PM Wednesday Afternoon for Bristol County, the remainder of Plymouth County Massachusetts, all of Rhode Island and Block Island RI except for far Northwest Rhode Island for sustained winds of 10-25 MPH with gusts to 40-45 MPH and 6-10″ of snow with isolated higher amounts possible..

Computer models over the course of the day today have converged on a solution closer to the Southern New England coast over the course of the day. This has increased the potential impact of this coastal storm across the region. Winter Storm Watches for Eastern Plymouth County and Cape Cod and the Islands have been upgraded to Blizzard Watches with Winter Storm Warnings now posted for much of Eastern Massachusetts, North-Central and Northeast Connecticut, and all of Rhode Island except for Northwest Rhode Island. A Winter Storm Watch has now been issued for Hartford County Connecticut, Hillsborough County New Hampshire, Northern Worcester, Northern Middlesex, Eastern Hampshire and Eastern Hampden Counties of Massachusetts. Snowfall total and impacts for the Blizzard Watch, Winter Storm Warning and Winter storm Watch areas are highlighted above.
While there is the potential for blizzard conditions in the Blizzard Watch area and the potential for near blizzard conditions in the southeast portion of the Winter Storm Warning areas, the snow and strong winds is expected to be a lighter and fluffier snow and winds are not expected to be as strong as the February 2013 blizzard. In fact, conditions are likely to be similar to what was experienced during the blizzard of early January 2014. Isolated pockets of tree and wire damage and isolated power outages will be possible along the Southeast Massachusetts coast line and Cape Cod and the Islands but the extent of any damage from a wind perspective is expected to be less than the February 2013 blizzard. This will continue to be monitored. Like with any larger storm, it is always good to be prepared and have any battery operated and generator equipment prepared just in case and if its not needed, you will be better prepared for the next major storm.
