Storm Coordination Message #4 – Coastal Flood Potential Sunday Evening 6/3/12 and Monday Evening 6/4/12

Hello to all..

..Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms affected portions of Western Massachusetts, Northern Connecticut and Rhode Island this Sunday Afternoon. A link to the NWS Taunton Local Storm Report for that event has been provided. Thanks to all SKYWARN Spotters and Amateur Radio Operators who provided reportable small hail and wind reports not listed in the Local Storm Report along with reports near or at severe criteria..
..Offshore system will bring several cycles of minor to moderate coastal flooding at the time of high tide across East Coastal Massachusetts. Winds are currently expected to remain below Wind Advisory criteria but wind gusts at the coast could approach 40 MPH..
..A Coastal Flood Warning is now in effect until 2 AM Monday Morning for minor to moderate coastal flooding at the time of high tide Sunday Night. The highest probability for coastal flooding for tonight’s high tide cycle will be across the north shore of massachusetts with less risk southward to Cape Cod..
..A Coastal Flood Warning is now in effect from 9 PM Monday Evening through 5 AM Tuesday Morning for East Coastal Massachusetts. The late Monday Evening high tide cycle stands the highest risk of coastal flooding with more widespread moderate coastal flooding in the warning area likely due to stronger winds and potentially larger storm surge..
..SKYWARN Self-Activation will cover the coastal flood threat tonight and Monday Night. Ops at NWS Taunton could be initiated for the Monday Night high tide but self-activation may be sufficient to monitor the threat. Another coordination message will be issued by Midday Monday for the Monday Evening high tide cycle. Below is the NWS Taunton Coastal Flood Warning Statement and Hazardous Weather Outlook..
